Club History

Brooke Lodge Riding Club was founded in 1987 and was based at Brooke Lodge Livery Yard, Stepaside.  The Club of 1987 was very different from  the club of today.  At that time members did not own their own horses but used the riding school horses and were therefore unable to compete outside of the school.

In the past twenty-one years the club has grown from strength to strength to become an intrinsic part of of the A.I.R.C. South Leinster Region. Brooke Lodge Riding School was sold in 2005 and the majority of our members are now horse owners who are spread over various yards across South Leinster.  A Brooke Lodge Riding Club Member can nearly always be found at every A.I.R.C. South Leinster Region Competition whether it is Show Jumping, Dressage, Cross Country, Showing or even Side Saddle.

Brooke Lodge members have also competed at National A.I.R.C events as both individuals or part of a team.  The most recent success being the Brooke Lodge Show Jumping Team that represented the A.I.R.C. South Leinster Region  in the EPS Show Jumping Final in the Failte Ireland Dublin Horse Show in August 2007.

Brooke Lodge Riding Club also hosts competitions during the year by kind permission of Maire Cullen in Brooke Lodge Livery Yard, Stepaside.  All members are expected to help at these events and this does not interfere with competiting.

The Club also has a beautiful bronze Genesis trophy for the Leading Rider of the Year. This trophy is awarded at the end of each year to the Brooke Lodge Riding Club Member who has represented the club the most at Riding Club events. The award is not decided on results, but participation!
